Goodnight for Justice – On DVD

Entertainment One, released Goodnight For Justice, on DVD April 12th.  This original film, starring Luke Perry and directed by Jason Priestley, aired on the Hallmark Channel, in January, so if you missed it, now is your chance to see it.

John Goodnight (Perry) has a crystal clear memory of the day that his family fell victim to ruthless outlaws. Years later, after he’s named a circuit judge of the Western Territories, Goodnight must choose between justice and revenge when the same outlaws return to terrorize his lands.

TV westerns seem to be a bit of a dying breed, and with every best effort the producers and directors usually can’t translate their stories well to the screen.  They seem to be just okay viewing, so I wasn’t expecting big screen quality out of this cable produced movie.  I was glad that I didn’t raise the bar too high as I was correct in my assumption, but taking it for what it was; a made for TV movie, it was actually a pretty decent watch.  Some parts of it seem somewhat corny and I was a bit disappointed in the acting, but the story is good and I wasn’t watching the clock throughout the movie wondering when it was going to end.  If you enjoy westerns, it’s not excellent, but it’s not a waste of a couple of hours either.  I’d give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5, and while it’s not a repeat watcher, it’s worth watching once.

You can purchase Goodnight For Justice on Amazon.com and other retailers for a retail price of $24.98.
