‘Revolutionary War’ App for iPhone/iPad

I wanted to have this feature up for July 4th, but I just got so busy that I didn’t have time for it, but learning about or re-learning about the “Revolutionary War” is not limited to Independence Day.

This iPhone/iPad/iTouch compatible app is $4.99 on the iTunes store, and contains a whole lot of facts and interesting events that led up to and occurred during the American Revolution.

This app was made by MultiEducator Corp., as part of a larger series of history apps. And while the information the app has can most certainly be found other places, it’s an updated way to absorb the history of our country which the younger generation might find more appealing than a text book.

Much of the app is still reading, but there are plenty of photos accompanying the text, as well as maps and drawings.

There are a number of multi-media presentations as well that incorporate pictures and maps showing the strategy for well known battles.

Actual text from many of the “acts” the British attempted to impose on the colonists, as well as biographies of recognizable forefathers of the revolution are also included in the app.

While the information is comprehensive and written in such a way that the majority could read and understand, the app is in its infancy and has some problems.

It repeatedly crashed on me, or would not respond to the ‘back’ command buttons within the app.

I would have recommended it for homeschooling however, it is rife with spelling and grammar errors, so I myself would not use it for my daughter as a teaching device until those would be fixed.

Once the bugs are worked out, I think this is a good resource to use for that part of American History whether for school, or if you’re just a history buff.

“Revolutionary War” requires that your iOS is at 4.1 or later to use the app.
