Poser Debut 3D Software Review

poser_debut_softwarePoser Debut is a program that’s potential is to create, construct and animate 3D models and backgrounds.

You’re gifted with a library full of models, props, hairstyles, expressions, poses, and such to design your 3D characters to star in your scenes.  At first, you will feel amazed and awestruck, wanting to try absolutely everything and to see what sort of totally cool things you can make.  Then you realize you have no idea what you’re doing and do the logical thing: go to the instructions.

While the software comes with a couple of tutorials that lay out the basics and even some things that are more complex, it’s easy to become lost with what to do because of the vast amount of controls.  There are a lot of controls to working the Poser Debut software.  A lot.

But with those lots of controls comes lots OF control.  You can do almost anything with your model characters, this includes: dressing them up in clothing that you can change the color of, putting up an entire apartment with everything set up the way you want, you can even pose your characters up to smallest joint in the pinky.  Your horizons are limitless, this also can make the software a tad overwhelming.

Dials manage everything and can be difficult to work with; something like a row of sliders would have been much easier to gauge things on.  The camera can also be difficult to manage, since the cameras are in presets and moving them requires fiddling with the dials.

There’s a whole range of things you can control and do with Poser Debut, and I think that at its core, the program has the ability to create expansive projects. All of the things you can do are outlined and explained. For someone with time and patience, a lot can be done with Poser Debut and I have only scratched its potential.

Poser Debut is sold for $49.99 and is available on the SmithMicro.com site.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign and received a copy of the software to aid me in my review.”
