Pilates has always sounded so intimidating to me. Going to a class to learn, has anxiety written all over it. So I was interested in trying out the 10 Minute Solution Pilates for Beginners DVD at home.
Pilates Method Alliance Gold Certified Instructor Lara Hudson, allows you to learn the proper form at a price far less than the expense it would cost to go to a class or hire a personal pilates instructor. At just $14.98 (suggested retail price), you can mix and
match the 10-minute workout segments, letting you make your own custom workout each time.
Learning pilates as a beginner requires that you pay attention to the proper positions that your body needs to be in. I suggest watching the workout fully through first before attempting to follow along, in order to reduce any risk of injury.
To view a short video of the DVD visit http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/m4O023R5F7OW4/ref=ent_fb_link.
There are five segments to the workout:
CORE BASICS – which teaches you the proper positions of your hips, spine and shoulders, so that you strengthen the abdominals with maximum benefit and the least amount of stress to your neck or back. The core is the ‘center’ of a good Pilates practice, and this segment is devoted to streamlining your waistband using core fundamentals.
LOWER BODY BASICS – Learn how to stabilize your torso as you sculpt your hips, glutes and thighs, giving you an added core challenge while creating long, lean legs.
UPPER BODY BASICS – This segment will not only tone and trim your arms, it will teach you how to move your arms from your shoulder blades, which will help to relax your neck muscles while developing beautiful definition in your back and shoulders.
TOTAL BODY COMBO – Using all of the fundamental skills from the first three segments, you’ll successfully master these total-body exercises with correct form and precision. Your hips, spine and shoulders will work harmoniously to strengthen and lengthen your body from head to toe!
LONG AND LIMBER STRETCH – Wind down and stretch out. It’s a chance to breathe deep and lengthen your legs, spine and shoulders.
Even if you regularly exercise, but are a beginner to pilates, you are going to notice a full workout here, you are involving muscles of your body that don’t normally get used. You should still start with beginner lessons, as it will lay the foundation of what you need to do, and once you are comfortable using this DVD on a regular basis you could go up a notch.
